Joseph L. Mikus, MD
Joseph Mikus, MD is a board-certified otolaryngologist since 1997, and is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology. Dr. Mikus graduated from the Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine and received his training in Otolaryngology at Wake Forest University. His specialty interests include pediatric otolaryngology, thyroid/parathyroid surgery, and endoscopic sinus surgery. Dr. Mikus has served the Winchester community for the entirety of his medical career.
James A. Salata, MD
James A. Salata, MD is a board-certified otolaryngologist. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Salata received a Bachelor’s degree from Franklin and Marshall College and Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed residency training in surgery and otolaryngology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He subsequently served as an otolaryngologist for the United States Air Force at Andrew’s Air Force Base. Dr. Salata joined Shenandoah Head and Neck Specialists in 2000. His interests include surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid and salivary glands, ear surgery, nasal and sinus surgery, head and neck skin cancer and reconstruction, and pediatric otolaryngology. Dr. Salata lives in Winchester with his wife, Dr. Kimberly Salata, and three daughters. He enjoys golf, tennis and playing guitar.
Catherine S. Smith, MD
Catherine Smith, MD is a board-certified otolaryngologist. She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Otolaryngology. She is a graduate of Texas Christian University and SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn. She finished her otolaryngology residency at Louisiana State University-New Orleans in 1999 and served as Assistant Professor at LSU before relocating to Winchester in 2000. Dr. Smith’s special areas of interest are pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders as well as sinus and voice disorders in all ages. She has two daughters and is a big fan of the TCU Horned Frogs and the Miami Hurricanes.
Ingrid C. Iwanow, MD
Ingrid Iwanow, MD is a board-certified otolaryngologist who came to Winchester in 2001 after completing medical school and surgical internship at Geisel School of Medicine (Darmouth College) and residency in Otolaryngology at Louisiana State University. During that time her efforts have been both focused on her practice and supporting the community by teaching Physician Assistant students, medical students and residents. In addition, she has served on several Valley Health and community committees. Her interests include pediatric otolaryngology, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, sinus disease and general otologic disorders. She is a member of the Academy of Otolaryngology and the Virginia Society of Otolaryngology. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, reading and playing tennis.
Kristina O. Roach, PA-C
Kristina Roach, PA-C obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Science and Sports Medicine from Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, WV. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Kristi joined Shenandoah Head & Neck Specialists in 2004. In her spare time, Kristi enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking and traveling.
Katrina A. Miller, M.E.d.
Katrina Miller, M.Ed., CCC-A has been with SHNS Hearing Services since its inception in 2001. Katrina received her Master’s of Education in Audiology from James Madison University and has been employed by Shenandoah Head and Neck Specialists since 1998. She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the State of Virginia.
Susan E. Aicardi, Au.D.
Susan Aicardi, Au.D., CCC-A has been with SHNS Hearing Services since its inception in 2001. Susan received her Master’s of Education in Audiology from James Madison University and her Doctoral degree in Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences. She has been with Shenandoah Head and Neck Specialists since 2000. She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the State of Virginia.
